"What
is Hiclone?
Hiclone
is a
non moving ring shaped device that fits inside the air intake
system of an internal combustion engine between the air
filter and the engine manifold. ...Robustly constructed
of stainless steel, it vigorously swirls the air as it is
sucked into the engine, improving volumetric efficiency
and exhaust gas scavenging which increases torque, reduces
emissions and improves mileage.

Hiclone
and 4X4's
On 4x4 turbo
charged diesel engines fitting a Hiclone in front of the
turbo will help to bring the turbo in up to 600 RPM earlier
producing more low down torque. Another Hiclone fitted close
to this inlet manifold will increase top end torque. The
net result is more pulling power, a smoother engine, less
emissions and much better fuel consumption.
In particular
Land Rover diesel engines especially benefit from Hiclones
making the engines more responsive and quieter. The reduction
of emissions due to Hiclone intervention is also significant
with a dramatic reduction in smoke often reported.
Unlike diesel
engines the effect of Hiclone on petrol engines is different.
You do not notice the torque improvement so much as the
fuel consumption. Hiclone makes a significant difference
to fuel consumption of 4 X 4 petrol engines and makes the
engines more responsive."
